I was at the Robin Sharma (The Monk who sold his Ferrari fame) Leadership workshop in Singapore recently with a few of my colleagues. I remember noting that if I am to learn one thing from this seminar, it will be fully worth it. Robin’s presentation did not disappoint. I am continually reaffirmed that approaching seminars like Robin’s, and motivational material in general, openly and with a willingness to learn is key to the enjoyment and ultimate fulfillment of these experiences.

~ Good Work is about Passion ~

The imperative of viewing work in the same way professional athletes view their work is one of the outstanding take aways from Robin’s workshop. That is to say, when you love what you do what you love. Moreover, winning at work means you do your work like Picasso painted, like Mozart composed or like Federer covers that tennis court!  Yet, with technologies and Internet the world is increasingly complex, including the world of work.

The good news is that technology, tools and their ubiquity which are all capable of providing access to each nanosecond of your life is making this exercise more simpler than ever before, if you know how to use them. But it needs you .. it needs the same dedication and effort that you are putting into practicing and performing your trade brilliantly!

In light of situations surrounding accomplishment, online and offline visibility within organizations I have committed to a series of posts on this blogsite that outline potential models for implementation within organizations, opportunities (and pitfalls) plus anything else that comes up via your comments or things I discover along with way. In these posts I will discuss matters as I see them, but will also work hard to share with you the progressive ideas I find through my extensive reading of others and insights I receive from them. And of course, I’ll be sharing directly from my own experience with the hope that these posts generate thought and conversation from you, the readers.

Introducing the ‘New Rules of the Game for Social Media and Personal Branding’ at the Workplace

New Models for Organizations – The last ten years have severely dented conventional practices and made them unsustainable for usage even in the next five years! Age old practices that drove economics, society, organizations, businesses and people have been unable to cope with the new paradigms that are fast emerging and are begging for total organic redesign. Modernity definitely has its strengths but is also coupled with its share of frailties that need yet to be overcome. I will be working with other bloggers and thinkers to discuss the potentials and the problems of the emerging workforce, the impact of modernity on Asia (and the globe), along with other insights within the debate among traditionalists and modernists.

Technology as an Influence in our Daily Lives – That Technology and the Internet is redefining how people and the organizations that populate them is an understatement! Evaluate your two most valuable assets – time and mental agility. How well you use them defines the future you. You could either be smart and insightful in how you leverage technology and the internet or you could succumb to a life of slavery to these tools whiling away your time in useless banter and inconsequential quips that you may think is a form of self expression. I am not against being plain social or lighthearted in the usage of these tools (well we all have the right to have some fun and games.. else life would be such a bore!) but be disciplined enough to know the limits that will prevent you from slipping into the dark side!  I’ll share with you practical steps each one of us can take to make sure our lives are kept in balance across the stages of life,as well as the various areas of life (i.e. work, family, spirituality) that are so important to each of us.

Integrity and Credibility – Being present online on one hand provides you with limitless possibilities but also thrusts you in front of potentially a zillion eyes to be viewed and formed opinion on. Your every action will possibly be scrutinized and the consequences can be far reaching! This requires changes in behavior & maturity but mostly around integrity and credibility! Maintaining a certain profile in the online world also requires consistency of representing the same traits in the physical world. In some instances even  lifestyle changes may be needed that without proper awareness and planning can result in unwanted situations! News, especially bad news travels very rapidly in the online world … so beware!

Personal Branding Courses & Educational Materials – What does awareness mean if we are not able to Walk the Talk? In this series of blog posts I will progressively introduce opportunities for you to expand your knowledge and experience while engaging you in the actual execution of personal branding, workplace readiness, and leadership development through tips and learning tools. I want to share with you the best of what I find through my own experiences and education. By sharing amongst ourselves do we really find the treasure we each hold.
