Energize a Teen and Transform the World

 

There is always a first time. As long as I am doing something new that is meaningful to those involved, I try having fun doing it. There are situations when I need to really ‘stretch’ myself and do things way outside my comfort zone, these moments are not uncommon at all.

Mentoring Teens

To address such situations I have conditioned myself to go ahead and give it a shot anyway and pat myself on the back afterwards and say – “Hey! I just grew my myself some – did something that I had never done before”. Sounds challenging but once you get into the groove, it starts to become kind of fun. No big deal. After all, nothing worth doing is ever easy to start.

In early August 2010, an administrator and teacher of a progressive local school in Singapore expressed interest to have me speak to grade 9 and 10 students. The school lends a lot of focus on development beyond the curriculum instilling character in life and work-life. Continue reading »

I’ve written before about the persistence against all odds, along with other characteristics of true leadership in In Need of An Inspiration.

Here’s a snippet of that article: Balanced Nonchalance, this is the one that makes the biggest difference. It is an ability to blend and balance the state of inspiration and the commitment to the vision or end goal with the acceptance of the present. Realization and acceptance of a larger purpose rather than the immediate goal. Reining in stress and anger.

Our best performances at work, sports or in social settings come when we do not force things nor get ‘over strung’!

Our actions flow smoothly, effortlessly but synchronously – yet they all happen in a seemingly nonchalant state – a state of balance! Watch the champions in every field and you will see what I mean!

Of late, I have been taking interest, doing a lot of reading and guiding people in the community and at work on how to create their Personal Brands. I found this video on Personal Branding as a nice summary of the world out there and the challenges it throws at every individual who happens to step into today’s workplace or any social forum let alone create any impact and succeed there!

I wonder what your ideas are and whether there is at all a need to personally brand yourself in today’s work place? Organizations are radically changing the way they hire. The web is increasingly turning into a powerful vehicle for hiring – Do you see a need or just plain competition, that would require aspiring professionals to use ‘Branding’ as a means to not only get to know themselves better, but be able to fully express and highlight their key skills and unique attributes for the world ( and perhaps more importantly, prospective employers) to see.
